Observing MS Dhoni bat helped Ambati Rayudu rescue India against Zimbabwe

Ambati Rayudu

Ambati Rayudu has been in Team India for a while now, but he is mostly seen warming the bench, but at the same time he has ensured to cash on every opportunity that came his way.

The middle-order batsman scored his second ODI hundred and helped the Indian cricket team beating Zimbabwe in the first ODI at the Harare Sports Club in a nail-biter.

Rayudu remained unbeaten, and moreover his knock was important because he rescued India from a peculiar situation, when the top-order crumbled like a cookie.

The centurion, after taking India to a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series, credited regular limited-over skipper MS Dhoni for his success.

Rayudu said watching Dhoni, who has rescued India from similar situations, helped him in controlling the game against Zimbabwe and he is happy with the contribution.

“I have been batting in situations like that for the last four-five years in the IPL,” Rayudu said. “Also I have been part of the Indian team for a couple of years now and have spent a lot of time sitting in the change room watching Dhoni bhai bat in similar situations.”

“I keep observing what he does and how he controls the game,” he added. “There is a lot you can learn just by sitting out and I am happy that whatever I am learning, I am able to implement in the middle.”
