South Africa’s World T20 2016 campaign came crashing down after their loss to West Indies. That loss put curtains over the Proteas campaign as they went out of one more ICC tournament.

The Proteas T20 skipper Faf du Plessis was, quite understandably, looking frustrated after his side’s last match, and said they didn’t play to their potential in the whole marquee tournament itself.

“I’m very baffled. 230 in that first game, yes we were to blame, we didn’t bowl well. It’s almost like, what do we need to do? Afghanistan were a dangerous team and we beat them.”

“We didn’t do well against West Indies either It feels like one of our nightmares where you are struggling to put your pads on, this tournament,” Faf du Plessis said.

The South African captain pointed out the close games his side played in the tournament, and added that they should have capitalised on the crunch situations.

“First game we should have won it, if you play that 230 game ten times in a row, you would’ve lost one,” du Plessis said. “West Indies again, small mistakes. I picked up a few grey hairs.”

“In four years time I’d possibly look like you (Alan Wilkins, the interviewer),” he added. “It’s everything for us (winning a world cup) I’ll do all I can to play another.”
