MS Dhoni on Virat Kohli: He Has Been Playing Brilliantly

India captain MS Dhoni was at the other end when Virat Kohli was displaying a surreal batting performance. Kohli not only batted brilliantly, but also ensured India chase down the Australian target convincingly.

For the fifth wicket, Dhoni and Kohli stitched a 67-run partnership, which was also the highest of the match, and finished the game off with five balls to spare.

After shouldering the Indian team to a comprehensive win in Mohali, Kohli received praise from his skipper, who was enjoying his batting from the other end.

“It’s not the first time I’ve enjoyed it, he’s been playing brilliantly or the last few years, he has kept improving his game, he is very hungry to score runs for the team,” Dhoni said.

Dhoni, meanwhile, insisted that the team cannot rely on Kohli in the forthcoming semifinal game West Indies, and other batsmen are required to chip-in.

“The others have to step up now, can’t keep relying on him, the others are contributing but we need to step up,” the Indian captain insisted.

The most important aspect of the Dhoni-Kohli partnership was the running between the wickets. They took sharp singles, while also converting ones into twos to ease the pressure.

“Running is a key aspect in modern cricket, if you can take singles against the best fielders, or make a single into the double, the lesser fielders get under pressure,” MS Dhoni insisted.
