Brendon McCullum has been in sizzling form throughout the season and he continued it in the NatWest T20 blast playing for Warwickshire by smashing a highest total in the tournament.

McCullum was at his brutal best against Derbyshire at Edgbaston and made full use of unorganised bowling attack to smash an unbeaten 158, the same score he made in the Indian Premier League’s first ever match for the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2008.

In his NatWest T20 Blast debut as well McCullum came out with all guns blazing and completes his century in just 42 balls. He didn’t stop after that and ended up hitting 13 fours and 11 sixes in his 54-ball innings.

Riding on McCullum’s blazing innings, Warwickshire posted a mammoth 242 on the board and even before Derbyshire took the field the game was almost done and dusted.

Derbyshire openers Hamish Rutherford and Wes Durston, however, had a real go at the target and planted a 61-run partnership in no time. But, it was always going to be difficult to keep up with the asking rate and eventually they lost wickets in tandem.

Despite losing wickets on regular intervals Derbyshire kept pushing toward the total, but eventually succumbed to a 60-run defeat in Birmingham.
