After starting with a bang in Australia, India’s Test opener Murali Vijay may have failed to make the cut for the World Cup team, but his future chances aren’t nixed.
Sources say that if there is any replacement in the ODI team due to an injury, Vijay is the first name the selectors may consider. “He is even ahead of Yuvraj Singh in the race if this team needs a batsman,” one top source revealed to Drcricket7.
When the selectors picked the team for the World Cup, Vijay was the a serious contender, but Yuvraj Singh’s name cropped-up with a greater frequency because he was a driving force in the 2011 World Cup victory.
At the time of the selection of the this year’s World Cup team, he was also fresh from scoring three back-to-back centuries in the Ranji Trophy for his state team, Punjab.
