Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s Indian Super League (ISL) team, Chennaiyin FC has unveiled their official jersey for the tournament, starting October 12 at Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata, in the presence of co-owners Abhishek Bachchan and Vita Dani.
Chennaiyin FC will be playing their first match against FC Goa at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Fatorda on October 15. The Jersey is blue in colour with white stripe on collar and arms, with an official logo of the team on the top-left corner of the jersey.
Earlier this week, Indian skipper Dhoni was unveiled as a co-owner of the franchisee in a press conference. Dhoni had expressed his wish to help improve Indian football from grassroots level and winning trophies with his new venture.
The World Cup-winning captain, who is also an a avid football and Manchester United fan, also talked about his early days, when he used to be a goalkeeper but later shifted to cricket during his school days.
“As all of you know, I began my sporting activities as a footballer and was a goalkeeper for my school and then shifted to cricket since we didn’t have a wicketkeeper in our team,” Dhoni said.
“And as a far my association with Chennaiyin FC is concerned, I have always been a big fan of football and Manchester United and I follow English Premier League.”
“It gives immense happiness to be a part of this team and I’m sure, with the kind of players we have in our ranks, we’ll make Chennaiyin FC a great side,” he concluded.
