MS Dhoni played one of his signature knocks in Antigua last night. He not only fired India to a winning total against the West Indies, but also broke a number of records on his way to an unbeaten fifty.

Dhoni was India’s standout performer in the last game. He made an unbeaten 78, and stitched a crucial partnership with Kedar Jadhav. He and Jadhav added 100 runs in the last 10 overs.

Here are the seven records that Dhoni broke in the 3rd ODI at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.

  1. Dhoni completed 12,000 runs in List A cricket to become the 6th Indian and 48th overall to achieve the feat. He is only behind Sachin Tendulkar (21,999 runs), Sourav Ganguly (15,622), Rahul Dravid (15,271), Mohammad Azharuddin (12,941) and Yuvraj Singh (12,188).
  2. His unbeaten innings in Antigua was the 119th time he remained unbeaten in the international cricket across formats. He is now joint first with former Sri Lanka spinner Muttiah Muralitharan.
  3. Dhoni became the first cricketer to hit 200 sixes on ODIs. Tendulkar is closest to Dhoni with 195 sixes to his name.
  4. He has surpassed Adam Gilchrist to become the 2nd highest run-scorer as a wicketkeeper-batsman. Dhoni now has 9,442 runs in the one-dayers. Kumar Sangakkara tops the list with 13,341 runs.
  5. Dhoni is now India’s 4th highest run-scorer in the ODIs. He surpassed Azharuddin’s tally of 9,378 runs in Antigua.
  6. He has 113 50+ scores in international cricket. Dhoni is now only behind Sangakkara with 140 50+ scores.
  7. Dhoni now has six 50+ scores against West Indies in the one-dayers. He is now only behind former England wicketkeeper-batsman Alec Stewart, who made seven 50+ scores against West Indies.
