MS Dhoni

Despite having clouds of uncertainty over the fitness of MS Dhoni, the Indian team management is not ruling him out of the Asia Cup opener against Bangladesh.

Dhoni is currently nursing a back spasm, which he sustained in the Monday’s practice session, and since then hasn’t taken part in any of team’s practice sessions.

On Tuesday, the Captain Cool, again, missed the training session in Mirpur. He, however, is still in contention of being in the playing XI of today’s game.

“Obviously, a player having a niggle just before a game and obviously someone like MS who is sort of a pillar for us in the middle order (is a problem),” Virat Kohli said.

“(And with) Parthiv coming in, we will obviously have to sit down and see (what happens) if that situation comes in where he has to play.”

“We will have to then sort out what’s the best possible combination for the team in terms of the batting order. As of now, unless we have a decision, we cannot sit down and make a concrete plan.”
