Moises Henriques and Rory Burns were hospitalised after been involved in a nasty on-field collision. After getting treatment on the field, both were rushed to the hospital.

The incident happened when Henriques and Burns were running to take a low catch, unaware of each other, collided and left unconscious after hitting the ground hard.

Henriques caught Burn’s knee and sustained a broken jaw from three places, for which is treated followed by a dental surgery. Burns, meanwhile, sustained facial and head injuries and looked far more serious.

After Henriques was taken to the hospital, Burns left unconscious for another 10 minutes, but left the ground awaken, giving double thumps up to the crowd.

“Both were unconscious after the collision,” Marrale said. “Henriques was caught by Burns’ knee and Burns had lacerations on the top of his head and below his eye.”

“They were given oxygen and pain relief was administered by an intravenous drip before they went to hospital,” he added. “Fortunately they were sitting up when they left the ground but it was a sickening incident.”

The NatwestT20 match between Surrey and Sussex was abandoned following the incident, with just 18 overs were possible.

“There was no other action possible,” umpire Jeremy Lloyds said. “Both of us (the umpires) are watching the ball, looking for the catch. You think: ‘Please somebody call mine or yours’.”

“You knew there was something horribly wrong as Rory was going flat out. It was like slow motion, you feel helpless, there’s nothing you can do.”

“The response was absolutely brilliant, the paramedics were out very quickly,” he added. “One ambulance, then two then three, which was when it became clear how serious this was.”
