The International Cricket Council (ICC) has given a green light to the Masters Champions League – a proposed T20 league for the retired cricketers – to be played in the United Arab Emirates.
There is no formal announcement made by the International Cricket Council yet, but according to news reports the ICC has given a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the league.
The Emirates Cricket Board has already approved the league for the next ten years, and the T20 competition is slated to commence from January 22 next year in the UAE.
A total of 90 players will go under the hammer in the auctions on November 27 in Dubai. There will be a total of six teams, featuring 15 players each.
Cricketers who are retired from international cricket will showcase their skills in the Masters Champions League, which will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Sharjah Cricket Stadium and Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium.
