The much-awaited Masters Champions League (MCL) has announced the name of twelve marquee players that will take part in the league, starting January 28 next year in the United Arab Emirates.
Zara Shah, CEO of the MCL, announced the named the players, including Sourav Ganguly, Brian Lara and Virender Sehwag, to name a few, that will headline in the league featuring legends of the game.
It is already confirmed that former India skipper Sourav Ganguly will be the part of Libra Legends in the MCL, while the remaining players will be preassigned to the six teams.
“It is indeed a privilege for us to have these names headlining the very first season of MCL,” CEO of the Masters Champions League Zarah Shah said.
“To especially have six of the most successful captains of their respective countries as part of the marquee players’ list is a big moment for the tournament.”
“The legacy that these players left behind in their respective countries was phenomenal,” she concluded. “I am sure they will have a similar long lasting impact in the Emirates. I welcome all of them to the MCL family.”

- Azhar Mahmood (Pakistan)
- Scott Styris (New Zealand)
- Shoaib Akhtar (Pakistan)
The organisers of the league also announced the names of the six franchises that will be competing in the league to be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium and Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
