KL Rahul has been part of India’s senior setup since 2014, yet he has played just a single matche under MS Dhoni’s captaincy. Reason being, he has played just Test cricket for the Indian team so far.
Things, however, are set to change, as after an impressive Indian Premier League stint with Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rahul has been added into India’s limited-overs squads for the Zimbabwe tour.
This will be the first time Rahul will be playing under MS Dhoni in the limited-overs format, and the Karnataka batsman is all set to make this opportunity count.
“I was sad when he retired from Tests,” Rahul said. “I was hoping to play more Test cricket with him so that I could get to learn more about the game.”
“He comes with so much experience, so many pressure games, ups and downs; learning from him would have been great,” he added. “I am happy it is finally happening. I have the opportunity to spend some more time with him.”
The Indian team will be locking horns with Zimbabwe in three one-dayers and as many T20 matches, and Rahul is all set to make his debut in the colours.
