KKR’s Sunil Narine could miss opening match of IPL

Kolkata Knight Riders’ Sunil Narine may have to skip the opening match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) against Mumbai Indians at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday, if the bio-mechanical test results are not available on time.

According to a source, Narine is scheduled to reach India by Friday. He may be rushed to Chennai for the test on his arrival. As per the procedure, the BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya will then give go ahead to his participation in the IPL after the results are out.

The sources insisted this process of clearing Narine’s action can take nearly a week. However, the KKR team is doing its bit to ensure that Narine is available from the very first match of the tournament. “We are trying our best to ensure that Narine plays from the opening match,” a source in the team revealed it to Drcricket7.

Narine was banned for his suspect action during the 2014 Champions League T20. The West Indies spinner couldn’t play the final against the Chennai Super Kings, which KKR lost by eight wickets. Later, he was missing from the West Indies team, which was touring India.

He ruled himself out of the 2015 World Cup. Reportedly, he was busy correcting his action and was later cleared by the International Cricket Council.
