Running from the Michael Holding end, Jerome Taylor extracted pace, bounce and swing, which other West Indies pacers failed to generate. He destroyed Australia’s top-order on a fresh Sabina Park deck with perfect out-swingers and in-dippers.

Had Taylor been backed by fellow pacers Kemar Roach and Jason Holder, decision of the West Indies skipper Denesh Ramdin would have been validated. This, however, didn’t happen as he was the lone man fighting for the Windies.

The Sabina Park in Jamaica is a happy hunting ground for Taylor, as he has 26 wickets in five Tests, including the ongoing game. In this match he has already dismissed three out of four Australia batsmen.

“It is a decision that the captain took and decided, we have to support the skipper 100 per cent so as the bowling leader it was up to me to lead the charge from the front,” Taylor said.

“It means a lot to me. Of course it is my home crowd this is a happy hunting ground for me. I have memories that will live with me for the rest of my life.”

“So, being here performing for the crowd and the people of the West Indies and Jamaica, it is just a fantastic feeling,” he added.

“Once you are comfortable with your run-up and have your balance then, I mean, that’s the two primary things, so it is about hitting the area and concentrating for a long period.”
