IPL 2015: Hussey, Praveen released; Mumbai Indians sign Unmukt, Vinay

There is still time in the Indian Premier League season 8 to start, but the trading of players has begun, with Unmukt Chand and Vinay Kumar have joined former champions Mumbai Indians in the first trading window of the IPL 2015.

Unmukt and Vinay have replaced Aussie Michael Hussey and medium-pacer Praveen Kumar in the squad, as they have the option of going into the auctions for the 2015 season.

“Mumbai Indians have acquired Unmukt Chand from Rajasthan Royals and R. Vinay Kumar from Kolkata Knight Riders, respectively,” IPL informed in a statement.

“Mumbai Indians have also released Michael Hussey and Praveen Kumar (IPL 2014 Replacement Player), both of whom may enter the Pepsi IPL 2015 Player Auction.”

Unmukt spent his last IPL season with Rajasthan Royals, while Vinay played for the champions Kolkata Knight Riders. Hussey and Praveen had a disappointing season last time around and the Mumbai-based franchisee decided to release them.

Meanwhile, the statement also informed that the first trading window, which opened on October 6, will close on December 12. The IPL governing council also informed that eighth season of the IPL will be played from April 8 to May 24.

“The 2015 season of the Pepsi IPL will commence on Wednesday, 8 April 2015, and conclude on Sunday, 24 May, 2015,” the statement reads.
