Virat Kohli Insists on Playing with Aggressive Mindset

Team India completed an innings win over the West Indies inside four days. It was a ruthless performance from the visitors, much like the way captain Virat Kohli wants his men to deliver on the field.

The Indian captain, too, went into the game with an attacking mindset. He played five specialist bowlers, including three outright pacers, and two spinners. Kohli’s attacking ploy worked, as India took the initiative in the series.

In the 1st Test, Kohli had the resources to get all 20 wickets in the match. This happened because his batsmen delivered. He, himself, led from the front and scored a record-setting double century in Antigua.

“We have spoken about one thing, that we have the skill and ability to declare innings more often than not rather than struggling to get to 350 without lower order,” Kohli insisted.

“So that’s the kind of mindset we need to play with,” he added. “You know when you start off with five batsmen, obviously you need to take more responsibilities.”

Going by what Kohli said, India will again go into the content with an aggressive mindset in the 2nd Test, starting this Saturday. And, it won’t be a surprise if the Indian team manages to pull off a similar performance in Jamaica.

“If we have a chance to win 4-0, then why not,” Kohli said. “We don’t need to get complacent. If we end up getting a 2-0 lead, it’s not that we would be playing for a draw in the next two Tests.”
