Amit Mishra’s Interpretation of Aggressive Cricket

Amit Mishra has become Virat Kohli’s go to spinner in Test cricket. Mishra was played ahead of Ravindra Jadeja in the 1st Test. He is likely to keep his place for the 2nd Test in Jamaica.

A calm figure, Mishra is someone, who lets the ball do the talking. The leg-spinner, much like Kohli’s Indian team, endorses the idea of aggressive cricket. He, however, has his own way of playing aggressively.

“When you play aggressive cricket, it means as a bowler you are looking for wickets,” Mishra said. “Aggressive cricket does not mean you go out there on the field and fight or show disrespect.”

“Aggressive cricket means you are looking at ways to pick wickets all the time,” he added.

Team India will face the West Indies in the 2nd Test at the Sabina Park. Conditions are going to be tough for the Indians. The hot and humid climate will take its toll on the players.

“It is warm and there is no doubt about it,” Mishra stressed. “We trained hard so that when we play the 2nd Test, we get used to the conditions.”

The Indian team is currently leading the four-match series 1-0 after winning the opening match. India will take an unassailable lead in the series, if they manage to win the contest in Jamaica.
