India should have a psychological advantage over the visiting South African team in the opening game of the T20 series in Dharamshala on Friday. That is because the visitors had to deal with a body blow when they lost the practice match to India ‘A’ by eight wickets at the Palam cricket ground on Tuesday.

So, on Friday when they take on the big boys, there will be additional pressure on South Africa to start the series on a positive note. Interestingly, the Indian camp didn’t read too much into South Africa’s defeat.

The team still rates the upcoming T20 series to be a big challenge. That too, playing on a Dharamshala pitch, which is known to produce decent pace and bounce. And against a team like South Africa will always be the ultimate test.

Playing at home is another advantage which India will have over South Africa. For the past few days, India team has been honing their skills and working hard on the stamina bit through higher altitude training in Dharamshala.

The hosts are also buoyed by the return Captain Cool MS Dhoni in the team. He will bring some freshness to his game after a few month of rest from intentional cricket.

All this while, he must have missed this game and the team he leads. His team, after all, is one of the best T20 sides in the world. Not to forget, India reached the final of World T20 last year.

However, this is the different level playing field and the Indians haven’t played that many T20 in the interim period as they would have liked.

So through this series, Men in Blue are also targeting to strength the all-round bit of the team. The team management is also committed to promote those bowlers who can bat and bat well. And there is no better opponent than South Africa to test your skills — on and off it.
