The Indian team continued to boss the Mohali Test. They now have England on the ropes, and looking set to double their lead in the 3rd Test. At stumps, England were 78/4, still 56 runs behind in the second innings.

Ravichandran Ashwin left England in tatters in the final session. He took three wickets, while Jayant Yadav chipped-in with one. Earlier in the day, Jayant also struck his maiden Test fifty to give India an upper hand.

The Mohali pitch hasn’t changed much. But, the way Indian spinners bowled, it made all the difference. They created enough pressure with dots to beat the English batsmen with their variations and pace.

“Really enjoyed getting maiden Test fifty,” Jayant Yadav said. “Really enjoyed batting with Jaad. Definitely the confidence has grown with the wickets and the runs. If I bat well, I can feel it in my bowling.”

“The best thing about this team is it didn’t make me feel I was playing for the first time. I didn’t feel out of place in the dressing room,” he added. “They shared experience with me that might help me.”

Earlier, India finished their first innings on 417. Ravindra Jadeja, Jayant and the lower-order ensured that they post a healthy total on the board. Ben Stokes took a fifer for England, while Adil Rashid finished with four.
