Mahendra Singh Dhoni might have been miles away from India and busy in World Cup preparations but the destructive right-hander took time out of his schedule to send best wishes to his Hockey India League franchise, Ranchi Rays.
Ranchi Rays are set to lock horns with Kalinga Lancers in their maiden HIL fixture today at the Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar. And, with the likes of Ashley Jackson, Barry Middleton and Moritz Furste they are a force to reckon with in a month-long tournament.
MS Dhoni, in a letter to Ranchi Rays players, which was given to them before the match, hoped that the team will put forward a solid performance in the inaugural season.
Earlier, England international and skipper of Ranchi Rays, Ashley Jackson has said that, MS Dhoni remains in team’s constant touch and he would want to meet the Indian captain soon.
“I have not met him in person but we have got his messages, wishing us the best ahead of the tournament. It will be an honour to meet him some day,” said the England midfielder. “It is an honour to have him as our co-owner.”
