In a T20 game, chasing down 230, at any day, on any surface, requires a massive effort. Not only an effort, but a spectacular effort, with a lot of guts in it.

England did just that against South Africa and stunned the Proteas by chasing down the total, inside 20 overs, against the bowling line-up featuring the likes of Dale Steyn and Imran Tahir.

Eoin Morgan, captain of England, praised his batsmen for playing out of the skins in the run chase, and termed his team a talented bunch of players.

“I felt we would have felt to play out of our skin to chase them,” Morgan said. “But there’s a lot of talent in our team if we play with freedom.”

“It’s been going for just under a year now, we’ve had some big chases,” he added. “But to get a start like that, Roy and Hales were outstanding.”

“We’ll take a lot of confidence. We came a little unstuck against Gayle, but tonight we finished well with the ball – it was just the first six overs. Batsmen are finding different ways of scoring.”
