The results in Bangladesh were not what England would have expected before the series. They managed to win the opening Test by a narrow margin, and then went down in the second Test in a bizarre manner.

It’s going to get even tougher for the Three Lions against India in the five-match Test series. On spin-friendly tracks, they will be up against the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and the in-form Indian team.

Even the former cricketers are not giving England any chance in the series. Former England pacer, Matthew Hoggard feels the road is only going to get tougher for England in the Indian conditions, after Bangladesh.

“It’s going to be a very difficult tour for Cookie’s (Alastair Cook) side,” Hoggard insisted. “We did very well in the subcontinent last time round and India will want payback.”

“Add to that the conditions and our experience in Bangladesh and England are in for a stern test, particularly in terms of facing up to some high quality spin bowling,” the former England pacer added.

“So we’ll need to make significant improvements with both bat and ball. I fear England’s struggles will continue.”

Interestingly, India have not defeated England in a bilateral Test series since 2008. Even the last time when England toured India, they handed a come-from-behind-shock defeat to the Indian team in the Test series.
