Allrounder Hardik Pandya was a surprise inclusion in India’s Test squad. Just like everyone, the Baroda allrounder was also left surprised by seeing his name for the first two Tests against England.
“It came as a big surprise,” Pandya insisted. “There is no cricketer, at any level, who doesn’t dream of representing India in the whites. I’m no different. I have immense respect for all the formats that I’ve played in.
“But this so special. Wasn’t really expecting this,” the allrounder concluded.

Pandya made a good surge in the Indian team after his debut in Australia earlier this year. He, however, was later dropped for Zimbabwe tour and then a two-match T20I series against the West Indies in the United States.
The lanky allrounder, meanwhile, worked hard with the ‘India A’ squad. He made an impressive comeback in the Indian team against New Zealand. And, managed to stamp his mark with both bat and ball.
“My ability lies in how I can fit into any role that I’m asked to take up,” Pandya insisted. “In a team game, that is something I’ve always strived to achieve. This is another challenge I’m looking forward to.”
