The Sunrisers Hyderabad delivered a strong performance against the Chennai Super Kings to win the encounter by 22 runs, courtesy a strong performance from their skipper David Warner and bowlers.

This was the second successive defeat for the Super Kings, but they are still sitting at the top-spot in the points table, while the Sunrisers are fifth behind the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Chennai, after winning the toss, invited the Sunrisers to bat first and their decision backfired, as Warner and Shikhar Dhawan provided the hosts a scorching start.

The Super Kings managed to pick few quick wickets to crawl back into the contest, still the Sunrisers managed to post 192, which on any given day is a par total.

Chennai didn’t start the chase well, losing Brendon McCullum early, while Dwayne Smith failed to convert the start yet again.

Faf du Plessis and skipper MS Dhoni kept the Super Kings in the hunt, but they both fell in Ashish Reddy’s over, bringing curtails on any winning opportunity whatsoever.

Pawan Negi, however, tried to up the ante with some lusty blows towards the end, but it proved too much for the youngster as they only manage to score 170 in 20 overs.

“180-190 on this ground is a tough one to chase,” Dhoni said. “We didn’t start really well and bowled too short, bowling wasn’t really great. Once they scored 190, every run becomes important.

“We lost the game once we lost a couple of wickets, when du Plessis and I got out. We didn’t have to play outragoues shots in the chase,” he added. “David batted very well, but when the bowler is not bowling to the field it becomes even tougher when.”
