In terms of coming back strongly after losing a match, no team can match the Chennai Super Kings. Any comeback needs some true believers and this team has many of them.

CSK’s comeback against the Royals Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday wasn’t about winning or losing; it was about the feeling of being able to compete at top level again. And CSK showed why they are the most feared team in the IPL circuit.

Spearheaded by Suresh Raina’s superb 32-ball 62, CSK first made 181 for 8. Then, with the ball, Ashish Nehra took four wickets to wrap up the match in style. A lot of credit also goes to Faf du Plessis as well for giving a superb finishing touch to the CSK innings that saw his team winning the match by 27 runs.

It was more or less a complete batting effort despite CSK skipper MS Dhoni and explosive opener Brendon McCullum adding only 17 runs to the grand total. With this win CSK are behind the Royals with eight points (four wins from five matches).

As far as the RCB are concerned, they really have some work to do. With Gayle not playing the match against CSK, there was absolutely no fire-power at the top of the order.

Their skipper Virat Kohli did try to fight a lone battle for his team during his team’s chase, but there wasn’t much support from his teammates to stage a comeback into the match.

With this defeat, RCB are right at the bottom of points’ table. They have only one win from four games and really need to play more convincing cricket from here.
