The Champions League T20 match between the Chennai Super Kings and Lahore Lions was called off, without a ball been bowled, because of heavy rain in Bangalore.

Earlier, it looked that the match could take place as there were just light drizzles at the Chinnaswamy Stadium but as the time passed the heavens opened completely and removed any chance of a ball being bowled.

The umpired had given 10:45 pm IST cutoff time, but the match was called off at 9:00 pm IST seeing the heavy downpour at the stadium. Both teams walked away with two points, with Super Kings reaching the second place behind already qualified Kolkata Knight Riders.

The Super Kings now need to win their remaining tie against the Perth Scorchers to qualify for the semi-finals, while the Lions need to win both their remaining ties and also hope other results to favor them.

Lahore will next face Dolphins at the same venue on September 27 in a must-win game and will lock horns with the Scorchers on September 30.
