A gap of five to six days between the World Cup matches is helping Team India immensely. According to top sources, this breathing space between matches is helping to unwind and get over the niggling pain if any.

“The players are a lot more relaxed lot and there is an air of freshness in the dressing room now,” an insider told Drcricket7.

In the Australia tour, there was insufficient gap between the matches, which led to loss of form, discipline and focusing on relevant subjects. It even made team director Ravi Shastri in labelling the Australia tri-series irrelevant.

The team management also felt that the tournament was sheer waste of time as the players could have been given rest during that phase.

“Look how this same team is performing after getting those sufficient breaks between the World Cup match,” a source told Drcricket7. “This World Cup schedule is perfect and the team is making the most of it.”

“They are constantly under scrutiny and this high pressure situation can take a heavy toll on your body and mind,” he added. “So, getting enough gap between matches is a important for the team and they are getting it right now.”

Team India will next face Ireland in their fifth game of the World Cup to increase their lead in the Pool B of the World Cup. It is a good chance for the Indian batsmen, who struggled against the West Indies attack in the last match, to put some important playing time under the belt.

After Ireland, Zimbabwe is Team India’s next challenge – the level of competition would be interested intense. Therefore, these last two matches would be the perfect platform to make use of the opportunity to stay ahead of the opposition.
