World T20 2016: Two no-balls Leave MS Dhoni Disappointed

Bowling a no-ball in a 20-over game is a sin, especially if you are a spinner. Ravichandran Ashwin committed that crime, and offered Lendl Simmons a lifeline when India were searching for a wicket.

That was not all. In the 15th over, medium-pacer Hardik Pandya committed the same error and offered yet another life to Simmons, who seemed to be using all his luck at the Wankhede.

Simmons, meanwhile, ensured that India pay for all the mistakes they committed and slammed an unbeaten 51-ball 82 to knock India out of the tournament.

India captain MS Dhoni was, quite rightly, disappointed with the loss, more so with the two no-balls his bowlers bowled in the match.

The Indian captain said his bowlers did struggle because of the dew, but they shouldn’t have bowled the no-balls, which produced the wicket of Simmons, on both the occasions.

“The spinners did not have much on offer, we have a history of problems when the spinners bowl with a wet ball,” Dhoni said. “The only thing I am really disappointed it the two no-balls.”

“There was not much on offer, we wanted our fast bowlers to make a game out of it at the time, the conditions were very tough,” the Indian captain added in the post-match presentation.
