Former wicketkeeper bats for Team India to do well in the World Cup

India may have lost a chance to show their true mettle in the triangular series, but all is not lost. According to former stumper and chairman of the selection committee Kiran More, India would still start as strong favourite in the World Cup.

“This is an open World Cup,” More said. “But India being the defending champions would start as favourites.”

Indian’s batting didn’t blossom in the triangular series as it was expected, but it still remains a potent force. If there are batsmen like Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni in the team, batting should never be a worry and More agrees with it.

“World Cup is a different tournament and this batting will start looking different when the big event gets underway,” More pointed out. “This team has a captain in Dhoni who knows how to win big tournaments. Dhoni is the biggest all-rounder India has produced after Kapil Dev.”

The team would also be encouraged to see the way bowlers tried to defend a low total against England in a virtual semi-final match of the triangular series.

Right now all that the Indian team needs is some rest and nothing else. It would be a welcome break and thereafter it’s there for everyone to see what this team is actually capable of doing!
