Australia will face England in the final of the tri-series at the WACA and both teams would be hoping to carry a series-win confidence into the World Cup, especially Eoin Morgan’s men, who are underdogs in the marquee event starting in a couple of weeks.

England is going into the encounter with an upper-hand as they have a fair idea of the conditions in WACA. One of the fastest pitches in the world looked two-paced in the last encounter and it got the better of batsmen more than once.

Despite the odd balls keeping low, the deck had enough carry to tease the batsmen and it would be interesting to see of Australia can go into the match with four seamers or they stick with Xavier Doherty in the playing XI.

“I heard a couple of balls were a bit nasty, which can happen here,” George Bailey said. “That’s what we like to see at the WACA – a few balls playing up. It’s tempting to play all four quicks when you see a wicket like that.”

Australia, meanwhile, will be without Shane Watson in the squad as the Aussie all-rounder is still nursing a hamstring injury. With Mitchell Marsh already in the side and World Cup fast approaching, it won’t make sense to risk him.

“Just looking at the volume of stuff, and knowing we’ve got two good hit-outs in the lead-up before that first World Cup game,” Bailey said.

“I don’t think there would be any point in risking him on Sunday, however minimal that risk was,” he added. “It will just give him a chance to build those overs up again and get the miles in the legs.”
