England were completely outplayed in their first match, while India displayed a fighting performance at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. It would be an interesting contest between these two sides and they would like to get off the mark at the Gabba.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led side definitely holds an upper hand and they would not want to miss the match slip away from them. India have recently defeated England in five-match ODI series and would like to keep the momentum going.

India’s bowling, particularly in the death overs, looked promising in the last game and the team would be hoping to continue it with the World Cup is fast-approaching.

The problem with Team India is the opening position as Shikhar Dhawan, again, failed to fire. The southpaw was dismissed in the first over by Mitchell Starc that added one failure to Dhawan’s name in the Australia series.

“I am not sure about the statistics but I have felt that the openers have been doing a good job,” Dhoni said. “They did well in the Champions Trophy.”

“There will be the odd series here and there where when you are playing the best bowlers in the world in helpful conditions, we will lose the odd wicket,” he added. “But overall I am quite happy with their performance.”

Meanwhile, England have a lot of things to worry about as apart from skipper Eoin Morgan other batsmen failed to fire. The Morgan-led side would be hoping it to be only a minor blip in their form with everything to be played in the series.

James Anderson, meanwhile, is back in the English squad and will surely strengthen the bowling department of the team.

“He’s got masses of experience, he’s a big part of the dressing room and can only strengthen our squad,” Joe Root said. “He’ll swing it. He’s bowled at the death a lot, he’s got a lot of skills, and in these conditions, on this wicket, he’ll be hard to come up against.”
