The Indian selectors are likely to rest batsmen Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for the upcoming limited-overs Zimbabwe tour, starting June 11.

Both Kohli and Rohit have been playing continuously for a while, and with the Indian Cricket Team gearing up for a grueling Test season, resting both players seems to be a good idea.

Meanwhile, opener Shikhar Dhawan might also miss the Zimbabwe tour in which the Indian team will be playing three one-dayers and two T20s.

“It is more or less certain that both Virat and Rohit will be rested for series against Zimbabwe,” a BCCI source was quoted by PTI. “They have been playing non-stop cricket for the last six months.”

“They are required to be fresh before India embarks on their tour to West Indies,”the source further added. “The chances of Shikhar Dhawan going for the Zimbabwe tour are also very less.”

Virat Kohli is in the form of his life, but at the same time he has played four Test matches, 10 ODIs and 15 T20Is since October last year, alongwith the IPL matches.

The selectors might include Mohit Sharma and Mohammad Shami, who are coming back from an injury, into the squad for the upcoming series.
