Steve Smith must be thinking now that was it a good idea of setting the target in Mohali? Not because of the pitch, conditions or anything of the sort, but because of Virat Kohli.

It’s no secret that Kohli is a master chaser, and in the virtual quarterfinal of the World T20 2016 in Mohali, he proved it once again by driving India to a clinical six-wicket win over Australia.

Australia’s 161 was a par total in Mohali, and after India lost three wickets inside 50 runs it become even more difficult, but Kohli played a mature knock, again, to take India home.

The Delhi dasher stitched two crucial middle-order partnerships, first with Yuvraj Singh and then with the skipper MS Dhoni, and helped India chased down the total with five balls to spare.

“You need challenges in every game, they improve you as a cricketers,” Virat Kohli said in the post-match presentation. “I don’t know what to say, I am overwhelmed.”

“Yuvi had a good partnership and then MS kept me calm. We have always run well, we have an understanding, that’s why you train in the gym, you have those fitness regimes, that paid off today.”

“This innings has to be in my top three, perhaps the top right now because I’m a bit emotional,” the Indian batting mainstay concluded.

Indian Cricket Team is now set to lock horns with West Indies in the second semifinal on March 31 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
