New India Test captain Virat Kohli has decided to keep his aggression under control when he takes the field against Australia in the final Test in Sydney, starting December 6.

According to sources close to the Delhi cricketer, the kind of aggression he showed against the Aussies counterparts in the last two Test matches, he doesn’t want to continue with the same kind of attitude as he is now the team leader.

And, now he knows that this aggressive approach could backfire, which in turn can put the rest of the team on the back-foot.

“He is a Delhi boy and aggressive by nature. Taking the opposition on comes natural to him, but then as was evident in the last two Tests, some of the others players were not in a position to maintain the same level of aggression when the Aussies were trying to get under the Indian skin,” a source revealed it to Drcricket7.

Kohli has realised that he went slightly overboard previously and now it’s time to think on the lines of what is good for the team. So, don’t be too surprised if a mellowed down Kohli is seen during the Sydney Test. “He is ready for the next big challenge and focus is to win at least one Test match before the Test series ends,” the source added.

Reportedly, Australian opener David Warner had said on Sunday that he would be interested to see how Kohli would begin in the field after taking the mantle of captain from now retired Mahendra Singh Dhoni. But if situation arises when the Aussies would prod a Kohli and won’t expect anything in reply, it would be slightly unrealistic.

As Indian team director Ravi Shastri has said earlier that there is nothing wrong if you meet fire with fire, Kohli could then come into the picture. But surely, Kohli doesn’t want to be first to initiate banters on the field!
