A draw between India and West Indies at the Queen’s Park Oval ensured that the Virat Kohli’s men lose their top-spot in the latest ICC Test Rankings. Pakistan, meanwhile, have moved ahead of the Indian team.

There is just a point separating India and Pakistan in the rankings table. This is the first time Pakistan have reached the number 1 position, since the Test rankings were introduced in 2003.

“For us, the number-one ranking is not a destination but part of a journey,” Misbah-ul-Haq said. “Our long-term objective and strategy is to remain competitive, continue to challenge the top sides with good cricket.”

India, however, could only manage to remain at the top-spot for less than a week. They now have 110 rating points two more than the third and fourth placed Australia and England, respectively.

“I wasn’t too excited when we became No. 1 because I knew that it’s pretty close,” Kohli said. “The other teams have played more games than us, and we need to play as many games.”

“We will be able to assess ourselves as a side when we finish the whole season, so it’s fine,” the Indian captain added.
