After three straight forward wins, India were looking for a tough game and they got it against West Indies. The defending champions went on to beat West Indies by four wickets at the WACA with skipper MS Dhoni played a gutsy knock to drive his team home.

Windies only managed to post 182 on the board, but it proved a tricky chase for the men in blue as they were given a scare by the Caribbean pacers. India lost five wickets for 107, but Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja showed nerves of steel to chase down the total.

Earlier, Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav rattled West Indies, who elected to bat first on a lively pitch. They never allowed the Windies batsmen to get going and ripped through the top-order. Mohit Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja also bowled well.

Shami, who was making a comeback from an injury, troubled the Windies batsmen with his pace and bounce to finish with three wickets. The Windies total could have been much lower if India had not dropped catches, still they were decent in the field.

The West Indies showed a spineless batting performance, with only skipper Jason Holder showed some grit and determination for his second ODI fifty. The maroon brigade, however, was a different side with the ball and gave a tough fight to India.

Jerome Taylor gave two early jolts to the Indian team, while Andre Russell also took crucial middle-order wickets. West Indies, however, were short of par-total, and despite a spirited bowling performance couldn’t seal the match.
