Every team goes through a patch where it gets difficult to obtain desired results due to more than one reason, owing to which players, the captain in particular, come under the firing line.

This is exactly what is happening with India skipper MS Dhoni, who is under scrutiny, after the men in blue went down in the T20 series against South Africa and then in the 1st ODI.

It is very easy to criticise a player, especially if he is the captain, but while questioning the authority, often the credentials, stature and more importantly what he brings to the game and team are ignored.

MS Dhoni is one of the best skipper in the game of cricket, and is also considered as one of the greatest finishers in the game. India’s limited-overs captain MS Dhoni rarely falters in a time of trouble and so his strength isn’t limited.

That is why he continue to lead India in shorter formats and still remains country’s best bet to guide the young generations of cricketers.

“There is no one in the current Indian set-up who can match Dhoni. He still remains one of the best wicketkeeper cum batsmen in the world,” former India wicketkeeper Kiran More said. “To me, he is the greatest all-rounder India have produced after Kapil Dev.”

Former Indian cricketer and Delhi and District Cricket Association vice-president Chetan Chauhan too agreed that MS Dhoni continues to be the best guide for Team India

“Dhoni has a wealth of experience and can change the course of a match single-handedly. He is the one who has an impeccable record in ICC events. I don’t think that there is anyone who can match him,” Chauhan said.

In fact, Dhoni is left with nothing more to achieve as a captain, he won the inaugural 2007 World T20 in South Africa and the 2011 World Cup at home. In 2013, India won the Champions Trophy under him. A year later, he took India to winning their second World T20 title.

This year’s performance in the 2015 World Cup was also a special effort from his team for which Dhoni got compliments from every corner of the country. Under him, India also became the best Test team in the world. Fortunately, he is still going strong.

“Even after achieving so much as a captain, Dhoni has never fallen short on motivation and that is a sign of a great player,” More explained while making it clear that Dhoni is still India’s go-to-man.
