Mohammed Shami wretched havoc with the pink ball on the second day at the Eden Gardens by his pace and bounce. The pacer finished with a fifer, dismissing the opposition to a paltry 133 in their first innings.

In the CAB Super League final, playing for Mohun Bagan, Shami was at his dazzling best. He used the conditions pretty well, and used the assistance the pink ball was getting under lights, to dismantle Bhowanipore Club.

The Indian pacer was enjoying bowling with the pink ball. And, also seemed to have recovered fully from the injuries he was battling in the past few months.

“It’s very bright and glows like radium,” Shami pointed out. “With red or white balls, there was some visibility problem as it took the colour of grass. Definitely I will prefer this ball, this is much better. The biggest plus point is that it swings under lights, what else (does) a bowler want.”

“There was a bit of moisture in the afternoon so it helped initially,” he added. “But under lights, there was more movement undoubtedly. It’s challenging for both batsmen and bowlers.”

Mohammed Shami, however, had to leave the field for a brief period of time owing to dehydration. But, he came back to bundle the opposition with a sharp in-swinger. Amidst all concerns, Shami also reverse swung the pink ball.
