Mentally-fit Jonathan Trott available for England selection

Jonathan Trott has vowed his availability for England international recall, after spending almost  ten months away from cricket because of stress related illness.

Trott left England’s winter Ashes tour, in which the Alastair Cook-led side faced a 5-0 drubbing, in the middle. The 33-year-old has now said that he has rediscovered his passion for the game and is not putting too much pressure on himself.

“The ECB and I have had our final get-together. I’ve been signed off by the ECB,” Trott told to BBC. “Whatever comes along with regards to selection, maybe. I am not putting too much pressure on myself.”

“There have been some challenging times,” he added. “Some tough times. But I’ve been available a while, for the last month or two, I suppose, in terms of selection and I’m enjoying my cricket.”

“I’ve been feeling good for a while now. It’s been great going back to Warwickshire. The last couple of months with Warwickshire have been fantastic.”

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has not offered Trott the central contract but the Cape Town-born still hoping for a call up.
