Kiran More speaks on at lunch, Day 4, 1st Test

From 298 for 9 to 485 /9, Joe Root and James Anderson’s unbeaten 187 runs partnership for the last wicket has not only saved England from a follow-on but well might give the home team a healthy lead too. It will be absolute disappointment for the Indian fans who fancied a chance of victory for their team in this Test match. However, the opportunity has been missed by the Indian bowlers, who after doing all the hard work on Day 3 weren’t able to bring down the curtains on the English innings.

It’s always a frustrating sight for any opposition to see a partnership from the lower-order and this one will be long remembered by fans of both the teams for different reasons. The home side can now breathe easy and will aim to post as many runs on the board, and whatever runs Root and Anderson are able to score from here on, will be a bonus for them. Young Root was impressive all throughout his innings and his gritty century in this situation will definitely go down in the history as one of the best match-saving knocks from an English batsmen. On the other end, James Anderson showed great maturity in his batting and even he would look for his century now.

Team India has to reassess their plans in the next session for both these batsmen otherwise it may well get a bit late for them.
