Jharkhand’s Vijay Hazare Trophy Semifinal Postponed

The Vijay Hazare Trophy semifinal match between Jharkhand and Bengal has been postponed because of a fire, which broke out at team’s hotel. Now the second semifinal match will take place tomorrow at the Feroz Shah Kotla.

The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) has also rescheduled the final game. It will now take place on Monday (March 20) at Kotla. The BCCI also confirmed that all players and match officials are safe and unhurt.

Jharkhand’s left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem informed that the team was asked to evacuate the hotel at around 6:00 am.  “We were asked to evacuate the hotel and were told that a fire has broken out,” Nadeem said.

“When we went out of the hotel we saw a lot of smoke coming out,” he further added. “Although the fire had been put out by then and was at no point out of control.”

Jharkhand team also features MS Dhoni, who is leading the side in the tournament. He was present at the hotel when the incident took place. However, he, alongwith others, was rescued safely from the hotel.

According to the reports, the fire started from a showroom that is there in the hotel only.
