IPL 2015: Rohit Sharma is Mumbai Indians vital cog

Mumbai Indians

There is always something about the Mumbai Indians, which make them a very special team. And the one of the factors is surely their captain Rohit Sharma. He not only is special talent, but also emerging to be a good leader. Under his stewardship, this Mumbai team has already won a tournament two years ago, and now, they are looking to enhance their title count further.

The question is: Can the Mumbai Indians do it? A lot will depend on Rohit — how he bats and guides his team on and off the field. The kind of maturity and level headedness Rohit has shown in last few years, the team management is backing its captain all the way. He is one of the rare cricketers who was given the mantle of captaincy from one of the biggest captains of the world and that is Australia’s Ricky Ponting.

In the sixth season of the IPL, Ponting was appointed the Mumbai captain, but within days he passed on the mantle to Rohit, who eventually led his team to first IPL win. Now, Ponting is the Mumbai coach and he is very confident about Rohit.

Mumbai also have the kind of players, which are needed to make a difference at this level. Like any other successful T20 team, this team also bat deep and the balance between the batting and bowling departments is just right. There is spring in their strides and they are not scared of any opposition. Whether or not they can go all the way will largely depend on how Rohit & Co will start the tournament. After all, nothing can beat a team in the league with good momentum.
