Bangladesh make history as India lose series

Bangladesh 1

It get can’t get more embarrassing for India than losing the three-match ODI series to Bangladesh. India first lost the opening game by 79 runs on Thursday, and on Sunday, the visiting team lost to the hosts by six wickets.

With one match still to be played, Bangladesh have already leading 2-0. From here on, a jaded Indian team will have to play out of their skin to avoid a whitewash at the hands of a team, which was called a minnows not too long ago.

After his dream ODI debut, left-arm seamer Mustafizur Rahman was pick among all the performers in the match. In the first ODI, if his spell made all the difference to the end result, the script was even better in his second ODI.

The left-arm seam sensation picked six wickets to his credit. He surprised the Indians by picking Rohit Sharma early and literally ran through the Indian middle-order and lower-middle order.

Ultimately, it was his spell that helped Bangladesh to make history at Dhaka. It was a landmark win. Earlier, India won the toss and were bowled out for 200 in 45 overs, and in reply, Bangladesh made 200 for four in 38 over.

They wee supposed to chase those winning runs in 47 overs after rain disrupted the proceedings for a while. For India, Shikhar Dhawan, MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina did try to put together a good score, but Bangladesh were clearly a better team in the series.

Spearheaded by some sharp fielding and powered by solid batting, Bangladesh rounded up the match in style. India might have scored 200 runs, but it was a new brand of cricket that Bangladesh displayed to destroy the Indians completely.

But as they say, it’s part of the game and India will surely comeback strongly such an embarrassing defeat. For the winners, starting from Soumya Sarkar, Litton Das, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan to Sabbir Rahman, all of them contributed with the bat. And for India, off-spinner R Ashwin was the pick among his other colleagues.
