They say cricketers have more bad days than good days in their career and Delhi Daredevils’ Yuvraj Singh isn’t different. He came into this IPL with a reputation to revive the fortune of the Daredevils. There were expectations from every quarter of this team to see the southpaw shinning.

Unfortunately, Yuvraj’s IPL season wasn’t a good one. In fact, it’s been below par. But you can’t blame him completely because this is how cricket is. One day, you will be hero and next day’s performance can bring you down to rock bottom. Cricketers know this all too well.

With so much riding on them as professionals, they are under scrutiny all the time. Sadly, not many understand how the dynamics work and what a cricketer like Yuvraj Singh will be going through after a series of flop shows.

Against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, the most expensive player of the IPL came into bat when Delhi were 60 for two in the ninth over. It was a perfect platform for Yuvraj to come through with flying colours. However, he got out after scoring just two runs.

Yuvraj wore a very disappointed look after his premature dismissal. He had no rational explanation for his lack of form. He must have felt more dejected after the game got over and his team lost by only six runs.

Even his teammates, support staff, officials and the team owners must have been downcast. But this is how it is when nothing goes according to plan. In a team game like cricket, you can’t single out an individual and you can’t expect a cricketer to change things singlehandedly.

Perhaps, the Daredevils were destined to perform like this and not even a proven player like Yuvraj could alter their fortunes. The Daredevils will have to wait for one long year to change things for themselves. Till then, the biggest test for this team remains how they cope with the current situation.
