World Cup: ‘Aggressive’ Virat Kohli enjoying Team India’s sheet-anchor role

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli is a naturally aggressive batsman, who wants to play freely and counterattack, regardless of the situation. With his aggressive batting, he has rescued India in a number of occasions, but in this World Cup Kohli has curbed his natural indicts and got into a sheet-anchor role.

Kohli’s controlled aggression has been highlight of his batting so far in the World Cup and the role seems to have done goods to him. He has already scored 186 runs in the World Cup so far, including a match-winning century against Pakistan, but moreover he seemed to be in a nice touch.

It is worth a dialogue, is Kohli enjoying his new role in the team, seeing the kind of aggressive batsman he is, but if one looks at his batting form and rhythm, it seems he has embraced the role wonderfully, which is  indeed a very good news for Team India.

“There is no question of not enjoying this role,” a source revealed to Drcricket7 “It’s the most important one in the top-order. If something goes wrong with game plan, Kohli is also supposed to repair the damages in the initial part of the innings.”

Team India has already made a hattrick of wins in the World Cup and they are well on course of a title defence Down Under. The defending champions have prepared themselves for all scenarios in the build-up series, and they don’t want to leave anything unattended.

Against the UAE, when MS Dhoni lost the toss and was asked whether he would have batted first, the Indian captain was quick in saying yes, showing that the defending champions are not in a mood of taking any shortcuts in the World Cup.
