With fit-again Bhuvi, will Umesh make way for Shami?

Mohammed Shami

If India’s pacer Mohammed Shami is fit to play against the West Indies in the World Cup match on Friday, the team management might be forced to leave out Umesh Yadav to accommodate Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the playing eleven. In fact, the former chairman of the selection committee Krish Srikkanth suggested it to Dr Cricket on Monday.

“It’s good news for India that Bhuvneshwar Kumar is fit and has come back into rhythm. He is the most important pacer in the team. Injury kept him away from the game for a while. However, in the last match, he bowled well and looking to come back into his elements,” Srikkanth said.

In the last match of the World Cup, India had to leave out Shami as he was nursing a niggling pain. He was replaced by Bhuvneshwar. If the team management eventually decides to leave out Umesh from the playing XI in the West Indies match, it would be a tough call to make. On the other hand, it’s also a time to celebrate the Indian pace quartet is fit and raring to go.
