Indian skipper Virat Kohli made his captaincy debut memorable by scoring a well-compiled century on Day 3 of the 1st Test against Australia at Adelaide Oval. He, however, couldn’t finish off the job and got out while pulling Mitchell Johnson just before the close of play.
Kohli, earlier, faced a fierce bouncer in the 31st over from Johnson, when his short-pitched ball hit the Indian captain’s helmet. The Indian skipper was clearly rattled by the blow, but wasn’t injured and continued batting to bring his side close to Australia’s target.
Just as Kohli got hit, Cheteshwar Pujara rusted to his skipper, so did the Australian team, including Johnson to check. Kohli, fortunately, didn’t endure any serious and looked unfaze d by the blow.
Johnson, Michael Clarke and rest of the Australia team looked concerned. Interestingly, Kohli got out to Johnson while pulling a short ball.
