When so much sledging is happening in the international cricket, West Indies’ Marlon Samuels found an innovative way to keep his banter going on with England all-rounder Ben Stokes, without crossing the line.
The incident happened during England’s first innings in Grenada, when Devendra Bishoo dismissed Stokes. Samuels seems to be waiting for the opportunity and wasted on in giving the Englishman a ‘funny’ send off.
Stokes, quite rightly, looked annoyed but it was supposed to be because he got out cheaply, rather than the ‘goodbye salute’. Earlier, Samuels was in the firing line when Stokes bombarded him with words during Windies first innings.
“Ben Stokes basically is battling himself because he’s just coming into cricket and I’ve been around for a while,” Samuels said. “It’s obvious the English boys don’t learn because whenever they talk to me I continue scoring runs.”
“But they keep on talking, I guess they can’t help it,” he added. “I kept on telling him that but I probably have to tell him something different because he’s not listening. He keeps talking to me but it keeps me motivated and keeps me batting.”
