The Indian Premier League has announced Vizag as the neutral-home venue of Rising Pune Supergiants and Mumbai Indians from May 1 onward.
Earlier, Mumbai Indians were planning to play their matches in Jaipur, but owing to uncertainty over availability of venue, they will now be playing in Vizag.
The matches are moved out of drought-hit Maharashtra after Bombay High Court’s ruling. Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur were slated to host the matches.
IPL in a statement informed: The Indian Premier League Governing Council announced that Vizag will be the neutral venue for Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiants home matches post May 1, 2016 for the 2016 VIVO IPL season.
Both the IPL franchises have expressed satisfaction and are keen to embrace Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA VDCA Cricket Stadium as their home ground for the upcoming matches.
Owing to change in venues, the IPL Governing Council has also changed timings of two matches, involving Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab.
On May 15, the match between Kings XI Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad will now take place at 4:00 pm, while the match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils will take place in Vizag at 8:00 pm.
