Tillakaratne Dilshan ton tops Brendon McCullum after New Zealand skittles in 2nd ODI

The second ODI between New Zealand and Sri Lanka was a tail of two openers – Brendon McCullum and Tillakartane Dilshan – but it was the latter, who managed to bring his team home as the Islanders tied the seven-match series at one game apiece in Hamilton.

Sri Lanka chased down a moderate 249-run target without much jitters and registered an easy six wickets win with 14 balls to spare in the second ODI. Dilshan was never under pressure and easily took his team home.

Matt Henry was the pick of the bowlers for the Black Caps and took a couple of wickets, Adam Milne and Nathan McCullum finished with one wicket each. There were not enough runs on the board to trouble the Islanders by any means.

Earlier, the Black Caps skipper McCullum continued his lethal form with the bat and made his 11th ODI century. When McCullum was at the crease the hosts were aiming for a competitive total, but they turned out to be their own nemesis.

New Zealand lost five wickets inside 35 runs, including four run outs. Daniel Vettori, Cory Anderson, Luke Ronchi and Nathan McCullum were dismissed run out as the kiwis only managed to post 248 in 50 overs.
